Paw Paw Elementary School Receives Illinois State Board of Education 2011 Spotlight Award!
Paw Paw Elementary School is one of 167 schools located in urban, suburban and rural areas to be awarded a 2011 Spotlight Award. In order to receive the award a school must meet the following criteria:
- Schools must have made Adequate Yearly Progress for the last two years, 2010 and 2011 as required by No Child Left Behind
- At least half the students enrolled are classified as low-income students in 2011
- At least 60 percent of students must have met or exceeded standards in both reading and mathematics in 2011, and at least 50 percent of student met or exceeded those same standards in the two preceding years, 2010 and 2009.
Paw Paw Elementary School not only met the criteria but exceeded it in 2011. We are very proud of this accomplishment but are thankful for the parent involvement, teacher dedication and students’ hard work that made this award possible.
